"Gehenna, or the Tale of Unhappy Love" is one of the most famous works by Polish writer Helena Mniszkówna. The novel tells the tragic story of the love between a young teacher named Lidka and a wealthy industrialist named Piotr Golzman. Their marriage is short-lived as Piotr Golzman goes away on business and returns with the beautiful Baroness Olga, who ultimately breaks up the Golzman family.
