"Kunigas" is a historical tale written by Józef Ignacy Kraszewski in 1875. The story portrays the life of a Lithuanian prince-voivode in the 16th century who attempts to maintain the independence of his country during the war with the Muscovite Tsardom. Kunigas challenges the Russian troops invading Lithuania and fights together with his warriors for the freedom of his homeland.
