"The Man in the Case" is a story by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, published in 1898. In the center of the plot is a gymnasium teacher who is terribly afraid to live life to the fullest. The hero decides to marry. He practically lives "in a case", and matchmaking forces him to step out of his comfort zone.
