"Peter I" is an unfinished historical novel by Alexei Nikolaevich Tolstoy, on which he worked until the end of his life. The plot unfolds from 1682 to 1704. Tolstoy describes the numerous events that took place in Russia during this time: the change of power, the Azov campaigns, the deeds of Sofia Alekseevna and more. At the same time, Peter is a rather idealized figure.
